Maximianus, first reign, 286-305. Argenteus (Silver, 19 mm, 3.50 g, 1 h), Thessalonica, 302. MAXIMIA-NVS AVG Laureate head of Maximianus to right. Rev. VIRTV-S MI-LITVM / TS•A• Campgate with four turrets, open doors and star above gate. Gautier 9. RIC 11b var. (unlisted officina). A very rare variety. Beautifully toned and very sharply struck. A few light marks, otherwise, good extremely fine.
